Williams missing in the last Grand Prix races
While the legendary British team was making a lot of noise just a few weeks ago, it seems to have once again fallen back in line in recent races.
Williams will definitely be able to thank Alfa Romeo, who missed many scoring opportunities, if the Grove team manages to maintain its eighth place in the championship until the end of the season.
Indeed, while the Williams team had impressed in Hungary with a double points finish (thanks to race circumstances, of course), an incredible second place in qualifying at Spa, giving Russell a podium, and another strong performance in Russia, the second most successful team in F1 history in terms of constructor’s titles is now in the shadow.
George Russell did not do better than 13th in the last five Grand Prix. As for Latifi, who had stood out in Budapest, his puncture in Losail probably reminded everyone that the Canadian is indeed present on the grid.
« I think we are all a bit frustrated at the moment,” explained Lewis Hamilton’s future teammate to Motorsport.com. « We usually struggle on Sundays but we compensate for this lack of performance the day before, with a good Saturday. It is always easier to defend your position than to attack. But for a reason still unknown, the pace is no longer there in qualifying. We must give our best in the last two races to secure our eighth place, that is our goal,” he concluded.
Williams still has a twelve-point lead over Alfa Romeo at this stage of the season (23 points for the British team compared to 11 points for Alfa).
