Qatar Grand Prix – Nikita Mazepin will not participate in the second free practice session
Haas being forced to change chassis of car number 9, Mazepin will miss the second free practice session in Losail.
The Russian, who finished the first practice session in last place, eight tenths behind his teammate, will have to wait until Saturday to get back on track.
His team discovered damage to his chassis after the first run. An additional difficulty that the American team could have done without. Nikita will not be able to take part in the second practice session as his chassis will have to be changed, Haas confirmed in a statement.
Mazepin had complained about his chassis right from the start of the season, so much so that his team brought him a new one starting from the Belgian Grand Prix. However, this last-minute change will force the Russian driver to go back to his previous chassis, which is unlikely to please him since he found his pace much better since Spa.
Mick Schumacher will have to gather the maximum amount of data for the team, all by himself, this afternoon. The second free practice session will start at 3:00 pm French time.
