Andretti will not buy Sauber
After weeks of speculation, Michael Andretti will not buy Sauber. The team will remain the same next season.
The negotiations between Michael Andretti and the Alfa Romeo team have therefore failed. Despite rumors about this failure (which point to financial issues), Andretti wants to emphasize that the agreement could not come to fruition due to “control issues.”
The agreement did not fail for financial reasons, it has nothing to do with it, he told the AP agency. This could not be further from the truth. It was only about some control issues at the end of negotiations, that’s what killed the deal. I always said that if it wasn’t good, we weren’t going to commit, and in the end, it wasn’t indeed the case.
Michael Andretti, however, does not close the door to new future negotiations, maybe with other teams. “We are therefore continuing to look for new opportunities,” he concluded.
This event puts an end to Colton Herta’s hopes of succeeding Antonio Giovinazzi at Alfa Romeo.
