Ferrari feels like growing wings in Mexico
After a satisfying United States Grand Prix, the Ferrari team is pumped up as they approach this Mexican weekend. The Scuderia believes they can secure another good result on Sunday.
On a circuit that did not seem to favor Ferrari, the red cars have taken the advantage over the McLarens in Austin. The team hopes to be able to repeat this performance in Mexico, a circuit more favorable to the single-seaters of the legendary Italian team. Ferrari has achieved four podium finishes in the last three editions on Mexican soil, a performance that would surely please Mattia Binotto, the team’s director.
« In Mexico, we drive with the maximum aerodynamic support possible and the engine power is less sensitive, he told our colleagues at Motorsport.com. « I think this track will be more favorable to us than Austin even if there is still a gap with Mercedes in terms of engine. However, I am satisfied with our recent progress. We have been well supported by our new power unit and I think overall, in Austin, we were ahead of McLaren. Charles (Leclerc) was half a second quicker than Ricciardo in qualifying and in the race, he finished 25 seconds ahead. So, I am confident for the upcoming races. »
Ferrari has won twice in Mexico with Jacky Ickx in 1970 and with Alain Prost in 1990. Never two without three?
