After the meager harvest in Turkey (only a small point), Alonso and Ocon hope for a much better race weekend in the United States.

The Alpine drivers are looking forward to competing in Austin

Despite a fifteenth consecutive GP with, at least, one car in the points, the Alpine team had reasons to be disappointed at the end of the Turkish Grand Prix. The lone point collected by Esteban Ocon left a feeling of too little given the high hopes with fifth place, achieved by Fernando Alonso during qualifying. The Spaniard, after a contact at the start, finished his race in the depths of the rankings.

A few days before the United States Grand Prix, the French team is pumped up. “It’s always fun to race in the USA and I love the Austin circuit,” said the double world champion Spanish driver, who has only one podium finish to his name on this circuit (in 2012). “We are always guaranteed to have a good atmosphere here and it’s a track where you can overtake, which is always good. Let’s see if we will be competitive here and I hope we will have a completely dry weekend for a change.”

The same bell rings for Esteban Ocon. I really like Austin and I can’t wait to race here. I haven’t driven here since 2018. Same tone from Alonso who is eager to race on this track. I’m really excited. The first turn is really unique and the following ones are a mix of what you can see at Silverstone or Suzuka. It’s a good track, there are fast corners, interesting challenges and plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Alpine is keen to defend its fifth place in the constructors’ standings. The French team has only an eight-point lead over AlphaTauri (80 points compared to 72).
