Styrian Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton wants to “hang in there” in the fight with Red Bull

Lewis Hamilton never seemed to be able to worry Verstappen during the race, the latter having managed to establish a fairly comfortable lead over his main rival.

The British driver described his race as having been quite lonely. The Briton continued by saying I tried to hold on, but in vain against the power of Red Bull today.

Red Bull has made significant improvements in terms of grip. We are losing too much time on straight lines.

He tries nevertheless to put things into perspective and not to worry, confident in his abilities and those of his team to turn the situation around. I try not to worry too much and to be as quick as possible.

He also points out the necessary improvements to be made for Mercedes to remain competitive « Improvements need to be made, but I don’t know in which specific area »

With now an 18-point gap in the championship, Hamilton sees Verstappen further extend his lead in the drivers’ standings.
