The Finnish driver, Kimi Räikkönen, who won the world championship in 2007, was caught speeding in the pit lane at Paul Ricard.
Limited to 60 km/h, the Alfa Romeo driver was caught at 61.2 km/h in the pitlane and is therefore being fined €200 imposed by the FIA, the International Automobile Federation.
Article 22.10 of the F1 sporting regulations states that the pit lane speed limit is usually set at 80 km/h, but for the French Grand Prix, the FIA has decided to limit it to 60 km/h to allow for more time spent in the pits.
This is the second driver to have been caught speeding this weekend after Pérez yesterday.
