The Styrian Grand Prix took place last year for the first time in its history. It is located in the Spielberg region, where the Austrian Grand Prix usually takes place. There will therefore be two Grand Prix races in Austria in a row like last year as the event will take place on June 27, 2021.
Formula 1 has just confirmed in a statement rumors that have been circulating in the media for the past few days: the cancellation of the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.
To allow teams to benefit from the expected revenues at the start of the season by participating in 23 races, Formula 1 has therefore decided to replace this event with the Styrian Grand Prix.
Summer being very busy for the teams, this event had to take place in Europe in order to maintain a feasible logistical context.
It was considered to have two French Grand Prix races, but ultimately, like last year, the idea of having two Grand Prix races in Austria, in Spielberg, was chosen!
The French Grand Prix has therefore been moved forward by one week to allow the Styrian Grand Prix to take place on June 27.
