The Woking team is currently having a very good start to the season. Their young talent Lando Norris continues to impress with his skill and ranks fourth in the championship. On the other hand, their new recruit for the 2021 season, Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, seems to be adapting to his new team by outperforming his teammate in qualifying and during the race at the Spanish Grand Prix.
What announcement?
The McLaren team recently divested its real estate assets by selling the building in Woking where the McLaren Technology Center is located for the modest sum of 285 million Euros. McLaren thus becomes a tenant of its building but receives fresh funds to invest.
What to do with this money then? McLaren is already present in Indycar, in Simracing (virtual racing team) as well as in Formula 1. An official road car manufacturer for 11 years, the team could well invest in the automotive sector, just like in motorsport.
Engaging in Endurance racing to compete against Toyota, Peugeot, Audi, Porsche, and Ferrari as early as 2023? Creating a Formula 1 junior team? Participating in the FE championship?
