Grand Prix d’Emilie-Romagne: Lando Norris happy with his race
The McLaren driver finished at the foot of the podium after a solid performance.
Lando Norris managed to climb to third place on the podium for the second time in his career, as he had done during the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix.
At the end of the race, he said he was happy because it was a good comeback after yesterday’s qualifications, I did not have a good start but I found my pace afterwards. He would have been well assisted in his comeback by McLaren’s team instruction to Daniel Ricciardo to let him pass as he was much faster but could not find the opening in a regular way.
Having occupied 2nd place at the end of the race before finally conceding it to Hamilton, the young Briton looks back on the battle with his compatriot: “I tried to stay in 2nd position but Lewis was too fast. I am happy to be able to fight with these guys.”
He also specifies that a protective element significantly bothered him towards the end of the race « my knee protection was touching the clutch, I knew I was going to suffer at the end of the race ».
