Carlos Sainz Jr. at Ferrari: a breath of fresh air

It’s no longer a secret: the 2020 season was a nightmare for the tifosi and the entire Ferrari team. Despite some impressive performances from Charles Leclerc, the same cannot be said for four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who disappointed throughout the year.

But the situation may be changing with the arrival of Carlos Sainz Jr! Author of a good first weekend in Bahrain, strong with an eighth place in the race, the newcomer to McLaren arrives confidently in Imola, the venue of the second Grand Prix of the season.

Motivated, Sainz’s effect is already rubbing off on his team! After a strange atmosphere at Ferrari early last year, Charles Leclerc mentioned in a recent interview the way to change things and Sainz’s determination.

« In recent years, he has been in several teams, and I think it’s always interesting to have an idea of how opponents work,” Leclerc said.

« I immediately noticed his great motivation as well. He is in his first year at Ferrari and you can see that he wants to do very well right away.

This euphoria is contagious for the good of the whole team. I believe that for a team, it is always good to have two drivers pushing to get back to winning.

« What has changed is the time I have spent with my teammate because in the past, Seb and I often crossed paths. I would arrive as he was leaving, or vice versa. Now, with Carlos, we are often present on the same days and, consequently, we spend more time together. »

« Sainz’s euphoria is contagious for the good of the whole team. » Charles Leclerc

It should be noted that the Leclerc-Sainz Jr. pair is the youngest duo for the Scuderia in 50 years. However, Ferrari may have found the solution to its problems. Mattia Binotto speaks well of the best possible combination to help us achieve these goals. After finishing 6th in the constructors’ standings in 2020, the Maranello team must at least fight for 3rd place, perhaps against McLaren, Sainz’s former team.
