Robert Kubica, reserve driver for Alfa Romeo, had the chance to be the first to take the wheel of the C41, the latest creation of the Italian team Alfa Romeo (although based in Hinwil in Switzerland at the headquarters of Sauber).
The Polish driver is supported by the team’s title sponsor: Orlen. It is thanks to this sponsor that he was able to be the first to get into the C41 on a real track while Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi watched from the garage.
The test took place in Barcelona, on a recently modified Catalonian track. With only 29 laps completed, this officially announced test as a team filming also aimed to ensure that the single-seater was responding correctly and that all the different processes could be applied on track.
It is important to remember that teams are not allowed to drive with a car less than 2 years old during private tests, except for promotional filming purposes and up to 100 km per season.
The next tests for Alfa Romeo will take place in Bahrain from March 12th to 14th with all the other teams.
