For this third curtain raiser, Alfa Romeo, from Warsaw in Poland, opted for a presentation with Chopin’s classical music and dance, aiming to bring a bit of lightness to this C41 that seems quite similar to last year’s C39.

Aesthetic

The red and white dress remains, but the colors are more refined. Fewer black lines on the snout, more white, and a sleek Alfa Romeo logo also featuring the clover, a symbol of the brand’s sports versions.

The front wing is worth tokens.

The teams have 2 tokens this season to develop the car. Some aerodynamic parts are worth 1 token and Alfa Romeo announced during its press conference that they have already spent both tokens solely on the front of the C41.

Compared to the C39, there is a noticeable difference in the lower line of the front wing. The nose has also been redesigned. Different brake ducts are also noticeable. These are the main visible developments currently. The airflow that starts from the nose is very important in how the car will distribute air under the car, over the sidepods, and even to the rear wing. It is therefore a major element that should allow Alfa Romeo to make progress.

The rear of the C41

Another modified area is the engine hood. It is shorter and interferes less with the airflow of the rear wing. There are also aerodynamic changes at the center of the wing. Alfa opts, as seen with AlphaTauri and McLaren, for a central wing located below the rear wing. This allows for some downforce recovery lost due to regulatory changes on the floor and rear diffuser.

The application of the 2021 regulation

For the rest of the changes, they pertain to the application of the 2021 regulations, which include a reduction in the encroachment of the floor onto the rear wheels and a reduction in the size of the winglets under the diffuser.
