23 races for the provisional 2021 F1 calendar!

The FIA and Formula 1 have just unveiled a list of 23 Grand Prix that are expected to take place in 2021 as part of the F1 World Championship.

23 Grand Prix in one season over 52 weekends means almost one race every two weeks. Knowing that the season would start in mid-March as is traditional in Australia, this means that between March and December 2021, there will be Formula 1 on 23 weekends over 38 weeks! The races will follow one another, especially at the end of the year, with only 4 free weekends for the drivers out of the last 10 events of the year.

More classic than this very unusual year 2020, we will certainly miss some very traditional and charming circuits, but we will gladly welcome back the joys of Formula 1 in France with a Grand Prix at Le Castellet in June.

Compared to previous years, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be the only new addition. Note that the Vietnam Grand Prix, which was supposed to be held for the first time on April 5, 2020, but was canceled due to the Coronavirus, has not been confirmed and is still under negotiation. It may also be replaced by another circuit.

Chase Carey, who is still the CEO of Formula 1, stated he plans in 2021 meetings with fans and almost normal experiences [editor’s note: despite the COVID-19 pandemic]. We have proven that we can travel safely, and our partners also ask us to continue to move Formula 1 forward while managing the virus.

Indeed, many of our partners want to show that they can move forward despite the pandemic, and F1 is a showcase for them. We are happy to welcome Saudi Arabia and to resume our events originally planned for 2020.

Note that despite the test in Imola of a two-day weekend, without Friday’s practice sessions, for now the FIA plans to continue with three-day weekends.
