Following an issue during FP3, Esteban Gutiérrez was unable to participate in the qualifying session because the Swiss team did not have enough time to repair his Sauber C33. Adrian Sutil did what he could and managed to make it to Q2, but his car is still not competitive enough.

New pole position for Rosberg this season after Bahrain and Monaco, the 7th pole in 7 races for Mercedes AMG F1. Lewis Hamilton will start alongside him. Behind them will be Vettel and Bottas on the second row and Massa/Ricciardo on the third row. Alonso, the first Ferrari driver, is only 7th. Great performance by Vergne, who secured the 8th fastest time.
