Sunday Recap: Sauber – The first points are in the bag!

Kamui Kobayashi – 8th (7th after Hamilton’s penalty):

I had a good car, the team did a great job and I’m particularly happy to have scored points here. The strategy was only two stops and it was a bit risky but in the end, it worked pretty well. The difficulty with this kind of strategy is maintaining the same pace as in testing when doing simulations. I also enjoyed the battles on the track that I had today, whether it was with Michael Schumacher or with Mark Webber. We fought well.

Sergio Perez – Retirement:

Something was ejected from Sébastien Buemi’s single-seater during the race while he was right in front of me. I hit it on the floor, which damaged it. The fire extinguisher came loose from my car, and a short circuit forced me to retire. It’s a shame, the car was good and even though we still had a tire change to make, we could have had some good stints and finished strong.

Monisha Kaltenborn – Director:

« It was a very good weekend for the team and that’s the most important because our performances today confirmed what we saw in the first race, in Australia. We have the potential to be competitive in the race. The drivers did a great job once again and Sergio [Perez] followed our plans very well until his retirement… Kamui [Kobayashi]’s race managed to have a great run with only two stops and score points. »
