Saturday: 15th and 17th, Williams settles for little
The Williams team did not achieve a strong performance today but cannot blame their drivers. The conditions with the red flag made the session very difficult to manage. Petrov stopped his car just as the two English cars were on their fast lap. The drivers did not return to the track to preserve their tires. The result is therefore mixed, but the race is another story.
Rubens Barrichello – 17th and 15th:
Since the beginning of the weekend, we have been testing new exhaust exits. We couldn’t master them perfectly, so we reverted to our old package for the qualifications. I was quite satisfied in Q1, but with Sutil starting again after the red flag, we slowed down and therefore had to settle for our first time. Nevertheless, we have made progress since Malaysia and can hope to score points tomorrow.
Pastor Maldonado – 18th and 17th:
I’m slightly disappointed because of the red flag that was waved during my fast lap. I thought I could improve and maybe get into Q3 thanks to the upgrades on the car. We must stay focused and keep working. I hope to score points in the race.
Sam Michael – Technical Director:
«Even if it doesn’t show in our positions on the starting grid this afternoon, the FW33 has made good progress this weekend. We have a new exhaust outlet in preparation and have not yet used it in qualifying to give us more time to optimize it properly. In the meantime, our goal tomorrow is to score points and especially to finish the race! »
