Friday: HRT is slightly closer to Virgin and Lotus
By bringing new features to Turkey, Hispania thought it could catch up with Virgin and Lotus to no longer be at the back of the pack. Better yet, the team now seems able to fight on equal terms with Virgin. To be confirmed tomorrow, in qualifying.
Narain Karthikeyan – 20th and 22nd:
« Today we tried some new things, especially this morning, but they couldn’t be properly evaluated because of the weather. In the second session, the tests showed that these developments were quite effective and the car’s balance improved. Personally, I need to get more laps on this track. The last time I came here was in 2005, and I had huge mechanical problems which did not allow me to drive much. »
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 17th and 23rd:
The day was quite satisfactory in terms of pure testing; I was able to try the Pirelli wet tires, which is good to do before the race… In the afternoon, we completed enough laps to better understand our developments and improve the car’s balance on the track. We couldn’t do much more with all the yellow flags, so I’m satisfied with the day.
Colin Kolles – Team Principal:
I’m quite confident. We’ve taken a step forward. It’s a shame that Liuzzi couldn’t test the soft tires today, but he did a good job with the hard tires. Tomorrow will be better and the car will show more and more improvement.
