Sunday: Kobayashi scores points again, Sauber performs!

After more than disappointing qualifications at Sauber, the team wanted to climb back up the rankings and score some points. Goals achieved, notably thanks to Kamui Kobayashi. The Japanese driver finishes 9th, ahead of Petrov's Lotus Renault GP, after starting 17th. He delivered a great performance, as did his young teammate, Pérez, who continues to amaze. The Mexican driver finishes 11th, just shy of the points.

Sunday: Kobayashi scores points again, Sauber performs!

Kamui Kobayashi – 9th:

«My start was good and I was able to gain a few positions in the first corners. It was very good for us. I was 17th at the start and 12th after the first lap! However, it was difficult because our pace wasn’t good today. The fact that we scored points is mainly due to our good strategy. So I have to thank the team for this great work. I was able to overtake the two Williams drivers during the race but it was impossible to overtake Michael Schumacher. He was too fast on the straight. I am nevertheless happy to bring back points after a poor qualifying and I hope we’ll be even better in Hungary.»

Sergio Pérez – 11th:

I’m not happy either. Given our starting positions, we knew it would be difficult to score points, but Kmui [Kobayashi] showed that it was possible, so I can only be angry with myself. I made a mistake on lap 8. I went onto the grass and had to change my tires earlier than planned. That wasn’t the strategy, so it didn’t work well enough to get into the points, which was the goal. Now, I’m focusing on the next race, which will come very, very soon.

Peter Sauber – Director:

Looking from the qualification perspective, we can be happy with our result. Both drivers crossed the line and delivered strong performances. The team heads to Hungary with two additional points.
