Sunday: the two Toro Rossos are in the points

The Toro Rosso drivers delivered excellent performances, notably Sébastien Buemi who finished in 8th place after starting from the back of the grid. A good result as well for Jaime Alguersuari, who took 10th place in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Sunday: the two Toro Rossos are in the points

Sébastien Buemi – 8th

A fantastic race, one of my best starting from the right side at the back of the grid, I had a great start and in the first lap I managed to overtake about ten cars. Afterwards, I kept up the pace, passing quite a few cars on the wet track, and when the track started to dry, I stayed calm even though my car had too much oversteer. But during my pit stop, my team did a great job thanks to a wing modification, all done very quickly. When the rain returned, my car performed very well, allowing me to climb back up and score points. I can go on vacation calmly with four points in the bag, especially with that five-place grid penalty. I experienced an exciting Grand Prix, particularly with the overtake on Kobayashi, as I couldn’t pass him on the straight and had to do it under braking. It’s great to have this result thanks to a superb strategy.

Jaime Alguersuari – 10th

Today I want to congratulate the team for getting both cars in the points. It was clear in my mind that I could finish in 7th place because I made one of my pit stops when it started to rain lightly; my tires were not at the right temperature, and I struggled to stay on track. But I kept fighting even if it’s unfortunate to lose a place after the clash with Kobayashi, but we can say the team did a good job today. Even though it’s a good result before we head into this short break, I am looking forward to the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.

Franz Tost, Manager Toro Rosso

« Thanks to the two performances by our drivers, the entire team gave a tremendous gift to celebrate the 100th Grand Prix of the Toro Rosso team, as the first Grand Prix of the Scuderia Toro Rosso took place in Bahrain in 2006. This 8th and 10th place is our best result of the season, and from a strategic point of view, the team did a good job in difficult and changing conditions which the drivers were able to take advantage of. We can look forward to the rest of the season, and I congratulate all the teams working on the Grand Prix, those working at the factory and in the wind tunnel. They deserve this break to start fresh at the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps. »
