Kovalainen doesn’t worry
Will the Finnish driver Heikki Kovalainen still be in the Lotus seat next season? In any case, the person most concerned would still like to be behind the wheel next season, especially since changes are planned for next year.
The end of the season is approaching quickly, so much so that the discussions about transfers are becoming more precise. For example, Heikki Kovalainen. The Finn has been with Lotus since last year and, as he mentions, he feels good at Lotus GP.
As for his future, he admits he thinks about it, but it’s not an obsession. Even though he confesses that he could see himself coming back next season, he emphasizes, “Who knows their future?” Before that, he wants to continue to improve and develop the team before thinking about his personal case, especially since he is more involved in and out of the car than he was with his previous teams.
He also highlights that Lotus’s decision to switch to Renault engines last year, as well as to Red Bull gearboxes in 2012, are strong signals for the team’s future. He acknowledges that the Cosworth engine is quite powerful, but Renault’s expertise will be necessary to bring the team to the next level. « Next year, we will have KERS (…) This is one of the reasons why the Renault engine is important for us. »
He continues by praising the French engine manufacturer, saying that for him, the service we receive from them (Renault) is excellent. The quality of the engine… the engine degradation is very, very low. Before the next Grand Prix at SPA, Lotus still hasn’t scored a single point this season.
