For Domenicali, there are only two leaders in F1

The director of Scuderia Ferrari shared his views on some current F1 drivers such as Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher, as well as the reigning world champion, Sebastian Vettel.

For Domenicali, there are only two leaders in F1

Stefano Domenicali told the German website Bild.de that he saw only two drivers capable of standing out in the current Formula 1, namely Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher. « I think that only Fernando and Michael meet the expectations that distinguish the best drivers from the good ones, » explains the Ferrari Team Principal.

The Italian manager is full of praise for the seven-time German world champion and the two-time Spanish world champion: Schumacher and Alonso stand out for their attention to detail. They perceive things that most drivers completely overlook. And they have a hunger for victories like no one else.

Responding to criticism about Schumacher’s difficulties in regaining his best form, the Ferrari Team Principal stated: « Find someone else to speak ill of Schumacher. His work at Mercedes is remarkable, and if he were currently driving for Red Bull or Ferrari, you would probably see him winning Grand Prix ».

Regarding the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, Stefano Domenicali is more reserved: Vettel is not quite at the same level as Schumacher or Alonso. He is too young and not yet sufficiently experienced.

Finally, giving his opinion on the current dominance of the Austrian team, the Italian manager reminded that Ferrari held 16 constructors’ titles while Red Bull had only one, stating: « I don’t know what Red Bull’s success is due to, and whether it will last ».

At this stage of the 2011 F1 championship, Red Bull is first in the provisional constructors’ standings with 426 points, while Ferrari is third behind McLaren with 231 points.
