Sunday: No points for Williams

Respectively qualifying 12th and 13th on the starting grid, Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado finished the Singapore Grand Prix in 13th and 11th place at the finish. Once again on the verge of scoring points, Williams returns empty-handed from the weekend in Singapore and retains its 9th place in the Constructors' Championship standings... This Grand Prix marks the end of an eleven-year collaboration between Williams and its Technical Director, Sam Michael.

Sunday: No points for Williams

Pastor Maldonado, 11th:

The car experienced a lot of oversteer throughout the race, especially during the first stint. We tried everything to improve the situation and preserve the rear tires, but we were forced to make an early first stop. It didn’t change much in terms of our strategy, and things eventually went well until the end of the race. I tried to maintain a good pace, especially in the second half of the Grand Prix when I was able to follow Massa. I think the team did a great job, and I am happy because it was my first race in Singapore.

Rubens Barrichello, 13th:

« We knew from the beginning that it would be difficult for the tires. When the safety car came out, the only option for us was to stay on track to have the possibility of scoring points. It was not easy to do so many laps with the same tires, and when Massa came up behind me, there was nothing I could do. We tried things, but it didn’t pay off for us today. »

Sam Michael, Technical Director:

« We tried quite a few things in terms of strategy with both cars but perhaps not enough to score points. Both drivers did their best with the capabilities of their cars. It wasn’t easy, but both FW33s were able to reach the finish without any reliability issues. For my last Grand Prix with Williams, I want to thank everyone in the team, both at the race and at the factory, for the last 11 years and I wish them all the best for the future. »
