McLaren brings new parts to India
As the McLaren team approaches the final three races of the 2011 season firmly holding onto second place in the constructors' championship (with the title having been awarded to Red Bull Racing this year), the technical director of the Woking-based team announced that new parts would be brought by McLaren for the Indian Grand Prix.
Paddy Lowe, the technical director of the McLaren team, stated that the British team would bring new elements to India this weekend: « We are approaching the Indian Grand Prix with new parts ».
The changes will primarily involve the front wing of the MP4-26: « We are mainly bringing a new front wing. This will help us progress further at this stage of the season ».
On the other hand, the Briton stated that this was one of the last developments of the 2011 season: « We are reaching the end of developments for this year », adding « The developments such as this front wing are geared towards next season, whose regulations will not have changed much ».
Let us recall that McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton currently occupy the second and fifth places in the World Drivers’ Championship, with 222 and 196 points respectively at this stage of the season.
The British team is ahead of Scuderia Ferrari, third with 310 points (a 108-point difference).
