Return of Kubica: no decision for a few weeks
While initially the team principal of the Lotus Renault GP team, Eric Boullier, wanted to decide on Kubica's return by mid-October, the condition of the Polish driver has required the postponement of the decision, which should be made in a few weeks according to Daniele Morelli.
In a few weeks, the decision should be made regarding Robert Kubica’s return to LRGP in 2012. This is at least what his manager, Italian Daniele Morelli, suggests: « Robert is feeling well, everything is getting back to normal. But it is a bit early to talk about his future. »
Some rather reassuring news from the winner of the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, even if announcing a return too hastily is not feasible. A statement will be made by Renault and us concerning our future plans, but for now, it is still a little too early, Morelli specified. We still have to wait a few weeks before evaluating him and making a definitive decision.
His recovery is a process that requires many steps. We can’t say that Robert wakes up in the morning thinking “Great, I can drive.” He still has progress to make, and once these advances are achieved, we can make predictions, added Morelli.
The decision is expected towards the end of November, although nothing official has been decided on this matter yet.
Finally, in the event that Robert Kubica is unable to start the 2012 F1 season, a mid-season return would remain possible, as the Polish driver is still the No. 1 choice for the Enstone team, regardless of the exact timing of his return… and the choice of his replacement.
