Sunday: Mercedes returns empty-handed from the Americas
After a very good qualifying session and a good start, Michael Schumacher was unable to confirm during the race. The German once again suffered from premature tire wear, losing many positions during the first stint. Nico Rosberg, on the other hand, maintained his starting position and was able to execute the strategy he wanted by preserving his tires as much as possible. Not enough, however, to score points.
Nico Rosberg – 13th:
The weekend was difficult for us and unfortunately, we couldn’t score any points. However, we learned an important lesson that will serve us well next year, and that’s what matters right now. I hope we can be more competitive next season here in Austin because I really loved this weekend. The track, the people, and the city are absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to come back here in 2013 but in the meantime, I’m going to work hard to finish the season on a positive note in Brazil.
Michael Schumacher – 16th:
« I can’t find any words without being ironic today to describe my race. There was a lot of action around me, unfortunately in the wrong way. Needless to say, the race was very difficult. I couldn’t find any grip during my first stint, and my tires must have been very worn to have so little grip. We had to change our strategy to make 2 stops, which further compromised my race. In the end, it was more complicated than expected, especially considering our good performances in practice and qualifying. »
