Sebastien Buemi will remain the third driver at Red Bull in 2013

Despite the contacts this winter between Buemi and Force India, the driver ultimately decided to continue the adventure with Red Bull, where he will work alongside Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

« I know everyone well within Red Bull Racing and it’s a good thing to stay another year with the team » said the Swiss, who doesn’t hide his desire to become a main driver again one day: « Of course, my goal is to participate in races again, but this reserve position allows me to improve my knowledge a little more each day. Moreover, I help with the development of the car and provide feedback throughout the season, both at the factory and during races. »

Christian Horner stated he was pleased to see Buemi commit to the team for the upcoming season: “We are happy that Sébastien continues as a test and reserve driver. He is a full-fledged member of the team and will complement, throughout the year, the simulation work that is very important to us.”

Buemi first joined the Red Bull Junior team in 2004. After participating in two seasons in Formula 3 and the GP2 series, he began in F1 as a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing in 2009. Their collaboration has never ceased since he was chosen as a main driver for Toro Rosso in 2009, the year he achieved his best performance by finishing 7th at the Brazilian GP. After two full seasons, he was hired in 2012 as the 3rd driver for the Red Bull team and participated for the first time in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Toyota Motorsport GmbH.
