Giedo Van der Garde brings McGregor to Caterham
Giedo Van der Garde has been supported throughout his career by the clothing brand McGregor. It is therefore no surprise that they have become a sponsor of the Caterham team.
When the Dutch brand declares on its website that Giedo van der Garde is part of the McGregor family, it is not a form of marketing language but a reality: he is married to the daughter of billionaire Marcel Boekhoorn, the founder and shareholder of McGregor.
The brand will therefore benefit from significant visibility on the two Caterham single-seaters, although it will be less than what it was used to in promotional formulas.
But more than just a sponsor, McGregor enters the category of official partners. This will materialize through the creation of a clothing line in Caterham’s colors created by McGregor. Jan Paul ten Hoopen, the company’s CEO and the driver’s agent, stated: “We are proud to be the official clothing partner for one of the most ambitious Formula 1 teams. Just like McGregor, the Caterham F1 Team stands for commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, passion for detail, and great chances of future success. This partnership will allow us to accelerate our continuous international growth while strengthening our brand image. We look forward to presenting our new Caterham by McGregor collection at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix.”
The location of this public revelation is no coincidence. Indeed, the premium brand will then be in contact with its target clientele in one of the most glamorous settings of the season. It’s a world it already knows well since, since 2008, it has been the official partner of a Formula 1 team, namely Williams. Moreover, it also creates clothing in the colors of the Automobile Club de Monaco.
As luck would have it, Giedo van der Garde will drive car number 21 in the upcoming season. Additionally, the brand has a clothing line called 21 by McGregor, which they will undoubtedly expand with variations in the driver’s and/or team’s colors in the coming months.
