Medion joins Sahara Force India
One of Adrian Sutil's historic sponsors is also making its return to F1 following the German's comeback with Sahara Force India; it is Medion, which becomes an official partner of the Indian team.
The arrival of Medion at Sahara Force India is anything but a surprise since Medion is one of Adrian Sutil’s main sponsors, already featuring on his cap and racing helmet. Now, the German company will also be featured on the team’s cars in Silverstone. As a sign of the importance of the financial support, its logo is placed right next to the drivers’ heads, ensuring maximum visibility.
This clearly shows that the decision by the team’s management regarding their second driver was not delayed purely by issues of driving skill but indeed for financial reasons. The financial package offered by Adrian Sutil was far superior to what Jules Bianchi could offer.
Nevertheless, while Medion has significant media exposure thanks to this partnership, it did not find it necessary to dispatch one of its executives and therefore settled for a spokesperson’s message: « Formula 1 is an extremely effective platform for our brands. The cooperation with Sahara Force India has been successful in the past. It is therefore good to support them again. We look forward to restarting our partnership and are confident that the team will continue its tradition of success from previous years. »
The electronics brand will thus be one of the few brands, along with the watch brand TW Steel, to feature on the VJM06 and that do not belong to either of the team’s co-owners. It is interesting to note that these two external brands have significant visibility on the cars but much less on the clothing of the drivers and mechanics.
