Saturday: Toro Rosso drivers confident for the race
After a satisfying start to the weekend for the two Toro Rosso drivers, Ricciardo and Vergne were nevertheless eliminated at the edge of Q3, achieving the 11th and 12th fastest times, respectively. They remain confident for tomorrow's race, with their main objective being to bring home points.
Daniel Ricciardo – 11th: « I’m satisfied with how the session went overall, especially in Q2, and I think we got the most out of the car that we could. Even though yesterday was a good day for us, this morning was far from positive as I had issues with the car’s balance. So we had to play catch-up, and this afternoon we managed to do things right. I was happy with my Q2 lap, even though I’m a bit disappointed to have missed Q3 by such a small margin. But we’re not far off, and we can have a good race tomorrow. We’ve made progress and once again look as competitive as we were in China. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 12th: We made a leap forward which means we are starting the European part of the season with a stronger car, so anything is possible tomorrow. There are many positive things to take away from this afternoon, including the fact that my car’s settings will be even better suited for race conditions than during qualifying. The 12th place is a good starting position and bringing back points is the goal for tomorrow. The team has done a fantastic job but we still need to do a little more to be true contenders for Q3, but so far, it’s been a good weekend and I am very confident for tomorrow.
