Saturday: McLaren anticipates a tough race

While McLarens generally perform well on the Monaco circuit, Button and Perez leave disappointed from this qualifying session. The British driver, who was unable to complete a final fast lap in Q3 due to a technical issue, will start from 9th position, while his teammate clinches the 7th fastest time. On a track like Monaco where overtaking is rare, the race proves to be challenging for both drivers.

Saturday: McLaren anticipates a tough race

Sergio Perez – 11th and 7th:

« It’s not great to cross the finish line with the impression of having done an amazing lap and realizing you’re only seventh. Yet, I thought I had really maximized the car’s potential. We know we’re not there yet in terms of performance, so we need to keep improving, but the team has done a fantastic job so far this weekend, and I hope we can continue tomorrow and score some good points on this momentum. Anything can happen in Monaco on Sunday. »

Jenson Button – 12th and 9th:

« I don’t know what happened on my last lap in Q3. We had a problem with the car right at the end and so I couldn’t complete a fast lap. It’s a shame because, apart from this issue, which we also noticed at the end of Q2, it was a good qualifying session for me. The team did an excellent job by putting the right tires on at the right time and I felt I was driving well. Tomorrow’s race will be difficult, starting from 9th place, but this time, I could absolutely do nothing more. »
