Sunday: Di Resta and Sutil each move up 10 places for Force India’s 100th race
Force India leaves its 100th Grand Prix credited with a third double finish in the points for the Indian team, the second in a row after Monaco. Paul Di Resta climbed from 17th to 7th place, while Adrian Sutil, after a very eventful race (spin, collision, drive-through), brings back the point for 10th place.
Paul Di Resta – 7th:
« Finishing 7th after starting from 17th place is an excellent result and a good job by the team. I didn’t manage to gather enough information on the long stints on Friday, so it was really great to have achieved making this one-stop strategy work with a very long stint on mediums. It also feels good to have come back so strong in the race after really difficult qualifying sessions. The tires held up well, the lap times were good, and the team told me the decision on the pit stop was up to me. As soon as I felt the tires give up, I came in. After that, I had to be careful with the super-softs for the last laps. »
Adrian Sutil – 10th:
« This race was hectic, so it’s good to come away with a point after everything that happened. I spun while trying to overtake Bottas, which cost me a few positions, though I was lucky no one hit me while I was in the middle of the track. I lost time, then Maldonado hit me and damaged my rear wing. [Editor’s note: Sutil hindered Lewis Hamilton for several laps while he was fighting to maintain his second place] Despite all that, I was 8th when I received a drive-through penalty. I find the penalty rather unfair, as during the race I also had to overtake backmarkers, which sometimes took one or two laps, which is normal on such a track. This penalty cost me two places and three points. »
