Sunday: Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull finally triumph in Montreal

Sebastian Vettel – 1st:

« It’s great to win today. I attacked very hard, especially at the beginning of the race. I even hit the wall but I didn’t realize it. I was trying to distance the peloton because you never know what will happen at the end. We were finally able to control at the end but you don’t know that in advance. So I’ve always tried to attack and maintain a good pace. It’s nice to see that we were fast in all conditions this weekend and that we were fast during the race. We had average tire wear, which hasn’t always been the case for us. So we’ve made progress in this area. It’s nice to win here because it’s a very special race. Not just because of its track but for the whole city that loves racing. It’s a good atmosphere. »

Mark Webber – 4th:

« I got off to a sensational start, but I didn’t have much space to gain. I went to the middle, and Bottas and Nico were there. So I went to the other side and lost some pace. We are working on improving our starts, but so far, we haven’t been able to show how good they have been! We lost a bit of time with Nico [Rosberg] during the first stint, and the car was heating up behind him in the slipstream. Once I had clean air, the car behaved much better. Then there was the incident with Giedo van der Garde, which damaged my front wing and complicated things: the entire top part of the wing was gone on the left side. I don’t know what he was doing. There were plenty of blue flags when we were approaching the hairpin, and I dived inside, giving him plenty of room to let him know I was there. But as we approached the apex, he tried to reach it. I don’t know what he was trying to do with that. There were some positives today, but it would have been nice to finish higher. »
