Altran returns to Lotus
This is an old partnership that has risen from the ashes: the engineering consulting firm Altran will resume its collaboration with Lotus, as it once did during the Renault F1 era.
Is this a sign of additional funding available since the capital was opened to new investors, which allows for strengthening the technical team in charge of developing this year’s single-seater? In any case, a team of engineers from Altran will set up at the team’s headquarters to collaborate at least until the end of the 2013 season.
For years, Altran and the Renault F1 Team have partnered to achieve great successes. The integration had been pushed very far since we can remember that in 2010, Altran allowed one lucky winner to win an internship with the Enstone team. This partnership will once again be 100% technical, meaning that Altran’s logo will not be visible on the cars of Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean.
Mike Simms, the CEO of Altran UK, does not fail to emphasize the shared heritage: Altran is extremely proud to partner with Lotus F1 Team, a Formula 1 team with extraordinary heritage and development prospects. This partnership is based on a shared commitment to engineering excellence, a passion for cutting-edge technological innovation, and the will to win. It is a privilege to collaborate with a Formula 1 team that has built its success on promoting young talent, as well as creative engineering and management. Altran will bring its wealth of expertise to Lotus F1 Team, allowing its engineers to explore new approaches and solutions for the most important engineering challenges and translate them into performance on the track.
This reinforcement can only be beneficial as the team has faltered in the last two races, allowing Sebastian Vettel to distance himself from Kimi Räikkönen in the World Championship.
