Friday: There is still work to do at Ferrari

After a first session without going out due to the rain, Ferrari was unable to complete its work in the afternoon due to Felipe Massa's premature accident. But if it doesn't rain for the rest of the weekend, the Reds are relatively confident about their level.

Friday: There is still work to do at Ferrari

Fernando Alonso – 17th and 10th:

This morning, we lost the first session due to rain, which concentrated all the work we had to do on the afternoon session. Our program today was no different than usual. Therefore, it was important to gather data regarding tire behavior, which will also be the key element here. At Silverstone, you need an aerodynamic package suitable for fast corners, which are the main feature of this circuit. The strategy must be flawless, and to make the right decision for the race, we must consider that we might have very different conditions on Sunday compared to today because the track will be drier and the temperatures higher.

Felipe Massa – 11th and 22nd:

« I am very disappointed with what happened today because the accident cost me precious time, especially in terms of understanding the tire behavior here at Silverstone. Coming out of the corner, I found myself on a very slippery part of the track and lost control of the car. At that moment, the Pirelli hard tire prototypes weren’t hot enough, and I couldn’t avoid the impact. Fortunately, the car was only damaged at the front, and we will be able to resume work comfortably tomorrow where we left off. During a long stint, Fernando’s car was performing well, and even though the low temperatures did not help, better weather tomorrow may give us reasons to hope. I am sure we will try to improve in order to compete with our main rivals. »
