The car of Paul di Resta might be too light
While Paul di Resta was pleased to finish 5th in his national qualifying, he could be disqualified for having a car that is too light. Indeed, when he went on the FIA scales during qualifying, his car was weighed at 641.5 kilos, whereas the minimum weight is 642 kilos.
Once this anomaly was detected, the stewards then decided to empty the car’s entire tank in order to verify if the VJM06 had adhered to the minimum weight at all times during the qualifying session.
The verdict of the scale, once recalibrated, was that it was 1.5 kilograms too light compared to the technical regulations of F1. Jo Bauer, the FIA technical delegate, has therefore referred the matter to the FIA stewards for a decision to be made.
The British driver therefore risks being excluded from qualifying, which is a huge disappointment for him and his team.
More information to come.
