Saturday: Williams should have been closer to the top 10
Although Q1 went very well for both Williams drivers, they failed to raise their game in Q2. Pastor Maldonado finished 15th, just ahead of Valtteri Bottas.
Pastor Maldonado – 12th and 15th:
« We have managed to significantly improve the car over the weekend and it is more competitive. However, we didn’t manage to do everything right this afternoon, but the car is behaving better. So let’s hope we can recover some positions tomorrow. »
Valtteri Bottas – 17th and 16th:
« Q1 went well for us and I was happy with the car’s balance. I think the other teams had more reserves than us for Q2, which led us to finish where we did today. There are always things you could have done better, and I wasn’t happy with the car’s balance in Q2 while it behaved better in Q1. Nevertheless, in the last race, we weren’t far from the points. So that’s always the goal for tomorrow. »
