Sunday: Pastor Maldonado scores the first point for Williams
Williams earns their first point of the season, thanks to Pastor Maldonado's 10th place finish. Valtteri Bottas, on the other hand, was forced to retire due to a hydraulic issue.
Pastor Maldonado – 10th:
« I got a really good start from 15th place and was able to make some overtakes during the race, which were on the limit, which is really pleasing since it’s very difficult to overtake on this track. The car was consistent, maybe not fast enough during the second and third stints, but very consistent. I really want to keep scoring points now and be much stronger in the second half of the season. »
Valtteri Bottas – Retirement:
« It’s really a shame to experience my first retirement of the season since the goal was to finish all the races, but there is nothing I can do about it today. We still need to investigate what happened, but it seems to be a hydraulic issue because I first lost power steering, then the engine. Today, I didn’t have my best race, but I feel like I’m improving all the time, and I can’t wait for the second half of the season. Congratulations to Pastor and the team for scoring our first point. We need to work hard on this foundation when we return after the summer. »
