Singapore modifies its layout by removing the chicane at Turn 10
The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix have decided to revise the layout of their race taking place in just over a month. Turn 10, consisting of three curbs and where F1 cars were regularly airborne, will therefore be modified.
The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix are expected to slightly revise the layout of the Marina Bay street circuit for this year’s race, which will take place on September 22.
According to *Speed Week*, the chicane at turn 10 is expected to be removed, which should please the drivers who were not fans of this ‘chicane’ consisting of three rather high curbs approached quite quickly. Additionally, in case of a problem, drivers could hardly avoid the wall. This has happened several times in recent years, especially when drivers try to brake while the car is in the air.
As a result, this corner has often been criticized by drivers and teams since the introduction of the night race to the F1 calendar in 2008, and it seems that these criticisms have finally been heard. Now, without the chicane, this corner could become a ‘simple’ left.
In addition to the modification of this corner, certain sections of the track should benefit from resurfacing to make the track less bumpy.
