Saturday: Vettel and Red Bull believed until the end

Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 2nd

« It wasn’t certain that the first lap we did in Q3 was the one where we needed to be on intermediates – because it was difficult to know where we stood today. We went out on slicks initially, which was quite fun, as it started raining quite heavily. So we switched to intermediates and it still wasn’t as clear as we wanted. It felt like the rain was going to fall even harder, so we hurried to do a lap, but it stopped and the track dried really quickly. The last lap turned out to be the fastest on the dry track. It was hard to know how fast we were going, I saw Lewis set the fastest time and thought I could go a bit faster here and there, but in the end, we were still quite close. In these conditions, anything can happen. I’m happy with today; the guys did a good job with the switch from slicks to intermediates which got us an extra lap and it was a good day for the team. »

Mark Webber – 3rd and 3rd: « It was a challenging session to do the right things, but in the end, I think we did well with what we could. I think it was easy to look foolish in these conditions, but towards the end, I would say that we did the majority of things quite well. It was a bit odd with the DRS being activated and deactivated throughout the session, but it was the same for everyone. It was a bold move to slow down during the penultimate lap to save the tires, but you’re still not sure if the track will be optimal for the last lap, but in the end, it worked out, and I’m happy to be in this position for tomorrow’s race. »
