Sunday: Vettel flies once again to victory for Red Bull
It's not a big surprise that Sebastian Vettel claimed victory in Singapore, marking his 3rd consecutive win. However, his teammate had to settle for 15th place, faced with mechanical problems during the race.
Sebastian Vettel – Winner:
« It was a fantastic weekend. The start was tough, but then we had a good race pace and we pushed very hard to try to build a gap. You never know what’s coming and what can happen. The last ten laps seemed to drag on inside the car. I kept my focus by reminding myself how you can easily make a mistake here, the walls are close, and if you’re not careful enough, things can go wrong quite quickly. I concentrated on managing the brakes properly and saving the tires. We didn’t expect to be so strong, but it’s a team effort. Everyone is pushing hard and I think the secret, if there’s one, is that we love what we do and we are so passionate. The conditions are not good here with the heat, but the team gives everything they have, and I think that’s what makes the difference. I would like to tell the whole team that it is a privilege for me to drive the car you have built. »
Mark Webber – 15th:
« I think I did just about everything I could today, we had the pace in the car when we needed it, we managed the tires well, and then six laps from the end, the guys became worried about the car. So, yes, it’s frustrating, but someone else surely had a harder day than me, and that’s just how it goes. I was having a good stint, but unlike Monza, we started losing a lot of power. We were just trying to get back home at that point, but then on the last lap, we caught fire. »
