Saturday: Lotus are lying in wait
Romain Grosjean dominates Kimi Räikkönen again in qualifying. Thanks to Mark Webber's penalty, he will start 3rd. The Finn is once again forced into a fantastic comeback as he starts in 9th position on the grid.
Kimi Räikkönen – 8th and 9th
« I had only one set of brand new super soft tires in Q3 and I made a mistake, so my lap wasn’t fast enough to do better. This resulted in my tenth fastest time and therefore the ninth starting place tomorrow. The car was suffering from a bit of understeer, so I struggled a bit all weekend. Considering the pace on the long stints yesterday, we should have a much better race. But obviously, we will have to take the weather into account. I hope to do better tomorrow. »
Romain Grosjean – 6th and 3rd
« We achieved our goal, which was to fight with the Mercedes today. The Red Bulls were very fast anyway, so it’s not too bad to be relatively close to them in terms of lap times. Gaining a position thanks to an opponent’s penalty is not the most beautiful way to progress, but I have experienced it myself, it is part of the sport. Of course, it will be an advantage since I will start on the clean side of the track. Tomorrow, it looks interesting regarding tire degradation. But our race pace was very strong yesterday, so we’ll aim for a big result. »
