Sunday: Nico Hülkenberg brings his Sauber to the foot of the podium

Nico Hülkenberg had to fight throughout the race against the attacks of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, but in the end, he managed to finish fourth, which is his best career result. This result allows Sauber to gain a place in the Constructors' Championship, ahead of Toro Rosso. Esteban Gutiérrez, on the other hand, failed to turn his entry into Q3 into points as he finished just outside the points in eleventh position.

Sunday: Nico Hülkenberg brings his Sauber to the foot of the podium

Nico Hülkenberg – 4th

« Today, I had one of the best races of my career. I had had cars in my mirrors before, but today, there were many, and it was a bit annoying. Lewis put a lot of pressure at the end, especially in the last sector. I knew I also had to get out of the first corner well. The car’s traction was very good today, which saved me against Fernando and then against Lewis. We were also very fast on the straight. I had a good start, even though I was on the outside at the first corner, which made me lose time initially, but it then allowed me to get a really good tow and pass on the outside. A big thanks to the whole team for providing me with such an excellent car today. »

Esteban Gutiérrez – 11th

« I got off to a very good start and when I reached the third corner, I saw what was happening. I tried to protect my position and my rear wheels locked up. That’s why I lost a few places. Catching up after that was a challenge. I had some great battles with Massa and Checo [Sergio Perez] coming back from behind. Obviously, I wanted to score points today but that’s racing. It’s a great experience, which will help me improve in racing. We had a good pace today and are clearly capable of fighting for the top 10. »
