Bianchi and Pic penalized by 10 grid places in Suzuka, Van der Garde and Chilton reprimanded

After the South Korean Grand Prix race, the stewards issued a reprimand to Jules Bianchi and Charles Pic for racing incidents.

Jules Bianchi has already been reprimanded after qualifying yesterday. He thus receives his 3rd reprimand of the season and, as the regulations require, will be penalized with a 10-place grid penalty for the next race.

The Marussia driver was accused of obstructing Paul di Resta’s Force India at the end of Q1, thus preventing the Scottish driver from completing his timed lap under the best conditions.

For his part, Charles Pic received a penalty yesterday for forgetting to stop at the FIA for weighing his car.

Today, the two drivers are penalized for not respecting the yellow flags. The telemetry from their car indeed showed that the two drivers did not lift off the throttle contrary to what the sporting regulations require.

The FIA statement specifies that Charles Pic went 2 km/h faster in the corner where the yellow flag was waved on lap 53 than during his previous pass.

Their two respective teammates were also reprimanded by the FIA for going too fast on a lap during a safety car period.

It should be noted that at the end of the Korean Grand Prix, several other drivers were under investigation, including Adrian Sutil for his accident with Mark Webber, causing the Australian’s retirement, as well as di Resta for trying to overtake another driver off the track. No penalties were imposed.
