Pirelli selects the tire compounds for the last three races of 2013
The Italian manufacturer has just revealed the tire specifications for the last three races of the 2013 season.
For the Abu Dhabi GP held on the Yas Marina circuit, Pirelli will bring soft and medium tires to a track traditionally not very demanding in terms of tire wear. Temperatures are lower than elsewhere, mainly due to the time at which the GP takes place (5 PM local time), and this clearly favors a range of soft compounds.
For the last two races at COTA in Austin and at Interlagos in Brazil, Pirelli will provide teams with medium and hard tires.
We remember that in 2012 the first GP on the Texan track had caused issues for drivers in getting the tires up to temperature. We will see in /f1/actualite/16186-Pirelli-choisit-ses-pneus-pour-la-coree-du-sud-le-japon-et-linde.html if Pirelli’s specifications will bring more grip.
As for Brazil, once again, the tires will not be put to a severe test. However, it is well-known that at Interlagos, the weather can quickly take a turn for the worse, and the intermediate or even the wets may be needed.
As a reminder, Pirelli selects the tire compounds that will equip the F1 cars at each Grand Prix from a choice of 4 compounds: super-soft, soft, medium, and hard tires. In addition, there are intermediate tires (for wet tracks) and rain tires.
Each driver must use at least once both types of tires brought by Pirelli during the race. In Japan, this weekend, Pirelli has brought the medium and hard tires.
