Sunday: Thwarted Strategy for Force India
Paul di Resta lost big by coming out of his first stop behind Valtteri Bottas. His early second stop ultimately cost him the point for 10th place as he finished 11th. Adrian Sutil, who started last on the grid, climbed up to 14th place but lost time behind the second Williams car, driven by Pastor Maldonado.
Paul Di Resta – 11th
« At the start, I got off to a bad start and a few cars overtook me. We lost time during the first pit stop because Bottas’s Williams got past us. This compromised the second stint. That’s why we were very aggressive with a very early second stop in order to have a clear track and overtake the Williams. The car was very good in the last stint and it seemed like we were in the running for a point. In the end, we were five laps too short for the lifespan of our tires as I wasn’t able to defend myself against Jenson. With four races remaining, we need to take the positives from this weekend and head to India determined to get back into the points. »
Adrian Sutil – 14th
« It was a very difficult weekend. Starting from the back of the grid made the mission to score points challenging. In the end, I finished 14th and had some good battles, but there was a lot of oversteering and it wasn’t easy to stay consistent. The best part of the race was the start because I moved up to 16th, but we simply did not have the race pace we needed today. We weren’t able to get the performance out of the tires. »
