Sunday: Ricciardo brings a point to Toro Rosso in India
The Toro Rosso team saw its two drivers qualify outside the top 10 yesterday, and the race wasn't very good, with Ricciardo and Vergne finishing one place higher than their grid position. Nevertheless, this allows the Australian to score a point for the Faenza team.
Daniel Ricciardo – 10th:
« I’m really pleased with my performance today, even though during the race I thought we were competing for a better result than 10th place, especially after the first stint went very well and the pace seemed good. It even seemed possible to compete with Sutil and di Resta, so there’s a bit of disappointment not being able to pass them and secure more points. Overall, I’m thrilled with what I did in the car and we are heading to Abu Dhabi, where we will have a lot of support, so I hope we can deliver a good result for them next Sunday. Vettel? Phenomenal! Particularly since the summer break, when he went for the title and didn’t let anyone else get it. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 13th:
« I think the strategy we had was right, stopping early to get rid of the softs. It could have paid off if we were in the points, but we were simply too slow, even though we did everything we could. I couldn’t do better today, so I am obviously disappointed, because gaining only one place from my grid position is not enough. At least, we only have a few days to wait before trying again in Abu Dhabi. Vettel? What he did is really very special, so my congratulations! »
