Sunday: A good overall result for the Silver Arrows in India
After being "the best of the rest" at the end of yesterday's qualifications, Nico Rosberg did it again today in the race by finishing 2nd behind Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton had more difficulty but still finished in 6th place, which allows the Mercedes team to score important points for the constructors' championship where they snatch 2nd place from Ferrari.
Nico Rosberg – 2nd:
« Great work from Sebastian today and his fourth title is fully deserved. For our team, it was an important race today. We scored big points and regained second place in the constructors’ championship. I am confident that we can keep this position until the end of the season because the team is doing a good job and our car looks good, but we will have to fight. I had a good pace today and we had a good setup. The team did a fantastic job with the strategy, and thanks to the guys for that. The only thing that didn’t work today was when I found myself behind Felipe at the start because it was not easy to pass him on track, but we managed to do it during our stops. Our goal was to be the best of the rest this weekend and it worked perfectly. »
Lewis Hamilton – 6th:
« Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel who becomes a four-time world champion today. It’s something incredible and he has delivered top-notch performances this season. I hope we can fight with him next year! As for my race today, it was nice that we could score some points, especially with Nico’s podium, and that the team is again second [in the constructors’ standings]. The car was good this weekend but the race was frustrating for me. I tried my best to get past Felipe but it wasn’t possible and unfortunately, I destroyed my tires doing that. Finishing in 6th place is never satisfying but we still have three races and we will continue pushing. I am confident that we can still achieve good results to keep the team in second place and we will keep fighting to achieve that. »
