Friday: Encouraging Trials at Williams
The Williams F1 team brought some new features to the FW35 in Abu Dhabi and it seems to be working quite well, at least according to Pastor Maldonado who was in charge of the tests. Valtteri Bottas is also enthusiastic but will have to do his best with the equipment he has.
Pastor Maldonado – 9th and 14th:
« It was a good day for us today. We completed the planned program and the car seemed faster with the new features. There are still some balance issues that we need to work on, but overall, there seems to be more potential in this package. We now need to look at the data and analyze it to make progress tomorrow, but I think we can find a bit more speed. »
Valtteri Bottas – 13th and 18th:
We have tried interesting things on Pastor’s car with 2014 in mind and we saw interesting results and notable differences in how the car behaved. We are going to have a busy night analyzing the data and now it’s mainly about maximizing what we have and trying to extract every tenth from the car. I am confident that we can still find speed for tomorrow’s qualifying and the car seems more comfortable on this circuit than on the recent ones.
