Saturday: Lotus and Grosjean, the best of the “others”
Behind the untouchable Red Bull, Romain Grosjean managed to stand out as he finished 3rd. Heikki Kovalainen did fairly well for his first drive with Lotus as he finished 8th. Overall, the team is well positioned for the battle for second place in the championship.
Romain Grosjean – 5th and 3rd
« The weekend wasn’t the easiest for finding the right balance for the car. So being third on the grid is a great result. We managed to get through Q1 on hard tires, which wasn’t the planned strategy. It was a nice surprise and gave us options for the next two stages. It’s great for the team that Heikki [Kovalainen] is also in the top 10, especially since Mercedes and Ferrari struggled a bit, which benefits us in our fight for the Constructors’ Championship. I hope we can score big points with both cars. Sebastian [Vettel] and Mark [Webber] were really fast today. But, of course, we’ll give it our all to spur the Bulls, we are in Texas after all! »
Heikki Kovalainen – 13th and 8th
« Since yesterday, I knew we had a good car, but I hadn’t really set a goal for qualifying. I think I almost got the maximum possible today because I had a bit more difficulty than yesterday with the colder temperature this afternoon. Overall, for now, everything is positive, and I am in the top 10. I don’t want to make predictions, but Kimi has already made very nice comebacks starting from similar positions. So I hope we will have a good day tomorrow. »
